This course teaches all the basic skills needed to continue on with any class students are interested in pursuing or just a great refresher for those who haven’t used computers for some time and feel the need to start again(Windows 10, WordPad, Internet).

WORD PROCESSING:  Learn the basics of word processing, work with multiple documents, format, insert pictures, make lists, set tabs, and create tables.  Insert page numbers and dates, set columns and create a newsletter.  Utilize Word Art, use text boxes and create screen shots.  These are basic and helpful foundations for computer, tablet and smartphone usage from emailing to photo editing and beyond.  Prerequisite: Introduction To Computers or equivalent.  (MS Word)

APPLE iOS BASICS (iPhone & iPad) WORKSHOP:  Work with Settings, Contacts, Email, Messages, Calendar, Safari, Maps, Music, Camera, Photo and other default & third-party apps.  This is a general guide to Apple’s iOS operating system.  The session goal is to provide students a better understanding of how to navigate their devices.  To get the most out of this workshop, students should bring their iPhone and/or iPad to class.

FACEBOOK FOR BEGINNERS:  Create an account and a timeline or profile.  Learn to friend / unfriend, share photos / video, chat and message.  Work with games, apps, join groups and delete your account.  Great way to keep in touch with grandkids and the rest of your family, friends, groups or organizations.  Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers or equivalent. Students must bring a valid email address and password to class in order to create the Facebook account. (MS Edge, Facebook)

GUIDE TO WINDOWS 10 The course’s goal is to familiarize students with the latest Windows 10 operating system.  You will work with and manage Apps and Settings, learn about the Taskbar, Cortana, multiple Desktops and the Windows Store.  Explore the new Edge browser, File Explorer and the Notification Area.  All the basics you need to understand, customize and navigate this system. COMPUTER CARE AND MAINTENANCE:  The session includes a review of virus protection & spyware, how to clean up files and cookies, how to perform Disk Clean-Up and Defrag your computer’s storage.  Physical maintenance includes cleaning the air inlet and outlet of the Central Processor, the monitor, the mouse and more.  Students will learn to maintain PC’s and Laptops.  Every computer user needs to know this stuff!
